Hardalias from Kranidi: There is no reason to panic

Deputy Minister for Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias on Tuesday visited the town of Kranidi, in the Peloponnese, where a hotel used as a refugee accommodation facility has been found to a high viral load for Covid-19, with several coronavirus cases, and has been placed in quarantine. "There is no reason to panic, whatever must be done will be done according to the protocol," the deputy minister said.

Hardalias was accompanied by the general secretary for the reception of asylum seekers, Emmanouil Logothetis, the president of the National Health Organisation Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, as well as a civil protection secretariat and NHS delegation. A meeting was held on Tuesday at the Ermioni town hall in Kranidi, with the participation of the mayor, Yiannis Georgopoulos, and regional governor, Panagiotis Nikas, to evaluate the situation and afterwards announce new measures.

On Monday, a 28-year-old pregnant woman from Somalia hosted in the specific hotel tested positive for coronavirus. The hotel was placed in quarantine on Thursday as a precaution when a member of staff also tested positive for coronavirus, though the specific individual had not been to work in the last 12 days. There are 470 asylum seekers, mostly from Africa, staying in the hotel.
