Government spokesman Stelios Petsas began the daily briefing with a reference to US President Donald Trump's phone call to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

As he said, "in their discussion, the Prime Minister raised to the American President the issue of Turkey's destabilizing actions that endanger peace and stability in the wider region and test the cohesion of NATO."

He also added that the prime minister also stressed "that Greece is ready to contribute substantially to the de-escalation provided that Turkey immediately stops its provocative actions."
