Achtsioglou: No to unpaid work or cuts to Christmas bonus

The government is partially backtracking following the main opposition's strong reactions to its anti-worker measures but insisting on unpaid overtime for fewer hours, main opposition SYRIZA deputy Effie Achtsioglou, in charge of labour issues for the party, said on Thursday.
At the same time, she added, Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis "is planning the official cutback of the Christmas bonus salary for the workers put on furlough."
"It seems that the anti-worker obsession is combined with an excess of arrogance in the Mitsotakis government," she said.
According to Achtsioglou, establishing unpaid overtime amounted to the legalisation of unpaid work, whether this was for one or three hours a day, and she warned the ministry on behalf of SYRIZA "to not even consider bringing a statute to parliament that legalises unpaid and undeclared work for even one minute and to cancel plans to cut the Christmas bonus."
