Firefighting forces giving huge battle to contain fire at Volimes, Zakynthos

The firefighters are giving a huge battle with the blaze to limit the fire that is burning a forest areas near Navagio beach at Volimes, Zakynthos island on Monday. The wildfire broke out on Sunday afternoon The strong winds blowing throughout the night redinkindled the fire making the firefighters' work difficult.

THe general secretary for Civil Protection Vasilios Papageorgiou and the chief of the Fire Brigade Vassilios Papageorgiou Stefanos Kolokouris are at the site coordinating the operation.

Currentry, 16 fire engines with a 69 member crew, 3 teams of firemen on foot assisted by two water dropping helicopters and three firefighting aircrafts are taking part in the operation.
