Greece must keep the issue of reparations and compensation from Germany for World War I and II open, Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos said on Wednesday, to show it has not resigned legally from its claims.
In an interview to national radio broadcaster ERA1, Katrougalos also spoke of relations with Turkey, saying that nobody wants war in the Aegean. "But as long as tension rises, nobody can prevent an accident from happening," he noted, adding that this is the reason Greece is discussing confidence-building measures with Turkey in view of the latter's provocative actions.
Turkey cannot support its actions, he said, and has become "entirely isolated" after trying to cast doubt on international law and its application on geographic areas.
