Frigate Elli detached after running aground in sandy shallows off Samothrace

The Hellenic Navy frigate "Elli" was on Friday morning pulled free from sandy shallows near the island of Samothrace, where it had run aground at 3:30 during the previous night.

The ship was scheduled to take part in a landing exercise on a beach of Samothrace, as the conclusion of the military exercise "Parmenion 2019". Since it was detached shortly after 7:00 on Friday, the exercise will be concluded as planned.
