"The necessary consolidation of the Greek banks so that they can finance the Greek economy can't be based on the bulk foreclosures of primary residences, which are unfortunately no longer protected as of the end of this year, or on massive charges for bank transactions with the citizens," noted Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata after her meeting on Monday with the chief of the Bank of Greece Yannis Stournaras.
Gennimata pledged that her party will immediately table an amendment for the extension of primary residence protection for the most vulnerable Greek households and table a question in parliament on the banks' "absurd transaction charges".
"Charges that are, unfortunately, continuing despite the fact that the government, under pressure from us, was forced to talk to the bankers but only for PR purposes and with no result," she underlined.
