Gennimata: Constitutional revision not enough but necessary

Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata characterised "weak, not enough but necessary" the revision of the Constitution addressing the parliament plenary on Monday.

Gennimata said that the revision did not give answers to crucial issues as the change of the article 16 on the foundation of non-governmental, non-profit organisation, the climate change and the protection of biodiversity and the need for just distribution of the wealth in the era of the 4th Industrial revolution and artificial intelligence.

"We will not consent to the proposal that downgrades the prestige and the cross-party mission of the president of Republic, nor to solutions that threaten to change the character of the parliamentary-presidential political system".

"This revision, despite its defects and diffidence is the political system's response to the challenges of the new era. It remains to be seen if this response is persuasive, effective and viable".
