Mitsotakis: Sakellaropoulou's election symbolises the transition to a new era

"The election of Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou as the first female President of the Hellenic Republic by a very large majority symbolises the transition to a new era," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said immediately after the vote in parliament on Wednesday.

"The result of the vote confirms that in major issues we can agree on a new era for Greece, with first female President Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou," the prime minister said.

He also pointed out that Sakellaropoulou's election in the Presidency of the Republic opens "a window into the future".
