FM Dendias meets with Ambassador Pyatt

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias met earlier on Thursday with US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt. Pyatt reiterated that the US supports Greece's sovereign right to protect its borders.

According to diplomatic sources, the discussion focused on Turkey's recent provocative actions and statements, as well as on the situation in Evros, on which the foreign minister has elaborated Greek positions.

Following the meeting, the US ambassador posted a message on his personal twitter account, called for continued close cooperation with Dendias, as the US "supports Greece's sovereign right to protect its borders".

"Grateful for the opportunity to continue close coordination with Minister Nikos Dendias as we support Greece’s sovereign right to protect its border, work to de-escalate tensions and end provocative acts and false claims in social media."
